2017 Berton Rahn Research Award

​The Berton Rahn Research Award was established in recognition of Berton Rahn’s immense contribution to the AO Foundation. The prize honors the best completed AO Foundation's start up grant each year (based upon final reports and the publications resulting from all completed studies). And the award consists of a keynote award presentation, certificate, and a financial prize.

The 2017 winner is Robert L Mauck, PhD, the Mary Black Ralston Professor of Education and Research in Orthopaedic Surgery and Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania. His work for this award was within the AO Research Institute Davos's Acute Cartilage Injury (ACI) Consortium which was inaugurated in the summer of 2011. On behalf of the AO Foundation, we would like to congratulate Rob for winning this prestigious award, which he will present on the final day of the TERMIS European Chapter Meeting 2017, 26–30 June, 2017, Davos, Switzerland. The theme of TERMIS this year is Personalized Therapies for Regenerative Medicine.

The award is chosen from submissions from AO Foundation's start up grants (including consortia and clinical division mini grants and regional grants) from the AO Foundation's Clinical Divisions and Institutes and is decided within the AO Research Institute Davos's Advisory Committee (ARI AC) and approved at the AO Foundation's R&D platform.
