DKOU 2018

Over 2,000 specialists attend AO Foundation symposia at DKOU 2018

13 November 2018

The AO Foundation had a strong presence at Europe's leading conference for orthopedic surgery in Berlin this autumn. At DKOU 2018, 25 AO speakers and faculty members delivered 11 symposia which attracted over 2,000 specialists.
Faculty and speakers from AO Recon, AO Trauma, and AO Spine delivered AO symposia on a wide range of topics during the course of the week, continuing the AO's traditionally strong presence at the event.

The AO Research Institute Davos (ARI) invited DKOU participants to experience the new biphasic plating concept at the AO lounge. The concept was co-developed by Markus Windolf from AO Research Institute Davos and Devakar Epari from Queensland University of Technology, Australia, and is funded by the AO Development Incubator for translation into clinics. The biphasic principle allows you to control mechanical stimuli in a fracture to promote bone healing, while also significantly increasing implant strength to prevent pate failures.

During the event, the AO gave a glimpse of its renowned educational expertise while the AO lounge served as a useful networking hub.

The AO Foundation has been pleased to be a part of DKOU since 2004 and is looking forward to returning in 2019!
