First Davos–Bern research symposium held

Strengthening collaboration between the AO Research Institute Davos and Inselspital Bern

28 January 2020

On November 22, 2019, the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI) invited a team from the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Department at Inselspital University Hospital Bern to a joint symposium at the AO center.

After a warm welcome by ARI Director Prof Geoff Richards, four sessions featuring scientific presentations and discussions were held covering topics relating to bone, cartilage, intervertebral disc regeneration, and biomechanics.

In each session, colleagues from Bern (PD Dr Fabian Krause, Dr Michael Künzler, Dr Christoph Albers, Prof Benjamin Gantenbein) and ARI scientists (Prof Martin Stoddart, Dr Peter Varga, Prof David Eglin, PD Dr Sibylle Grad) presented current research activities and future directions, fostering intense interactions between the two institutes.

During a tour of the AO, the visitors obtained further insight into the ARI laboratories and recent projects, and the dinner offered an additional opportunity to plan future collaborations.
